Tourism direct gross value added in South Africa 2021, by industry
The Direct Gross Value Added (GVA) by the tourism industry in South Africa reached close to 128.75 billion South African rand (nearly 7 billion U.S. dollars) in 2021. Notably, non-tourism industries were the highest contributors to the Tourism Direct Gross Value Added (TDGVA). Accommodation followed, adding approximately 24.8 billion South African rand (roughly 1.35 billion U.S. dollars). The air passenger transport industry came next, with a contribution of 9.4 billion South African rand (around 509 million U.S. dollars).
