Canadians' views on refugee claimants' legitimacy 2021, by party support
While refugees make up a relatively small portion of newcomers and permanent residents to Canada, the reception of refugees is often the subject of debate. Generally speaking, Canadians are more likely to see those who claim to be refugees as legitimate than the other way around. In contrast, among Conservative and People's Party supporters, those questioning the legitimacy of refugee claims are in the majority.
