Global production of containerboard 2000-2021
The global production volume of corrugated case materials amounted to 183.7 million metric tons in 2021. This represented an increase of roughly 5.7 million metric tons in comparison to the previous year. Since the beginning of the century, worldwide case materials production has increased by more than 90 percent. Case material - or containerboard - is a type of paperboard mainly used in the manufacture of corrugated board. Global containerboard consumption is expected to increase to more than 220 million tons by 2031.
