Employment in the hotel industry in Barcelona 2010-2022

The number of people working for hotel and hostel establishments in the Spanish city of Barcelona declined significantly due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, the total number of workers in this industry amounted to only 7.2 thousand in 2020, then grew to roughly 9.6 thousand in 2021. In the last three years of the 2010s, hotels and hostels in Catalonia's capital employed more than 20 thousand people in total.
