French opinion on several proposals to stimulate democracy 2021, by age groups
When questioned at the end of 2021 about the functioning of democracy, nearly four out of five French people said they were in favor of setting up a control of the veracity of what the media publishes in order to stimulate democracy. This proposal had a much higher rate of support among people over 50 years old (84 percent) than among French people between 18 and 24 years old (65 percent).
In January 2022, more than half of the population thought that democracy was not working well in France.
