Reasons for not attending school among children in India 2021, by gender
As of April 2021, the major reason for not attending school among children aged six to 17 years in India was the lack of interest in studies, representing 35.7 percent of male children and 21.4 percent of female children. A majority of children in this age group did not attend school also because of high costs and because they were needed for household and outside work.
