In 2020, Canadian women had an average employment income of 39,900 Canadian dollars per year, while that of men was 54,300, which was 14,400 Canadian dollars more per year. While the income gap between the two genders remains significant, it has been decreasing in recent years. In 2012, women earned an average of 17,700 Canadian dollars less than their male counterparts. In addition, while the average employment income of men has fluctuated, men earned 300 dollars less in 2020 than they did in 2012, while women's earnings have increased from 37,000 to almost 40,000 dollars per year.
