Weekly Central Appalachian coal price in the U.S. 2020-2022
On October 24, 2022, the U.S. Central Appalachian coal price stood at 182.1 U.S. dollars per metric ton. This was a significant increase compared to the previous year and the result of tighter fossil fuel supplies across the world. Central Appalachian coal is produced in parts of Eastern Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee. At the end of 2021, the Central Appalachian coal spot price stood at 68.54 U.S. dollars per metric ton. The highest year-end coal price was recorded in 2008, when it amounted to over 117 U.S. dollars per metric ton.
