According to a survey of parents conducted in March 2020 and April 2021 in the United States, the share of children using tablets increased from 68 percent to 81 percent between 2020 and 2021. This increase in device usage happened during the global COVID-19 pandemic, which forced students to rely on their electronic devices to attend remote schooling and to socialize online. Smartphone usage increased to interest 71 percent of children under 11 years of age in the U.S in 2021.
