According to an October 2022 survey, dedicated electric vehicle service stations were the most popular alternative to home charging in China, where 43 percent of respondents highlighted these made the most sense for their charging needs. In contrast, 36 percent of Japanese participants mentioned traditional gas stations with EV chargers would be the public charging locations which made the most sense for them.

The sample included 374 participants form China, 478 participants from Germany, 384 participants from India, 345 participants from Japan, 453 participants from South Korea, and 618 participants from the United States.

Under one percent of German respondents reported expecting to charge their EVs at other locations, which was rounded down to 0.
