Share of production of major electricity company in the EU 2020, by country
In 2020, one electric utility had a complete monopoly on electricity production in Cyprus. A similar situation was observed in France, Croatia, and Czechia, where the leading electricity producer of the country controlled over 70 percent of the market.
In contrast, the highest competition in the electricity generation sector was in Italy, Poland, and Luxembourg. In 2020, the market share of the major electricity producer in Italy amounted to just 16 percent in 2020.
