Installed solar power capacity in Portugal 2022, by region
As of December 2022, the Alentejo region - located in the center-south of Portugal - had almost 900 megawatts of installed solar power capacity, more than any other region in the country. The southern region of Algarve came second, but by a wide margin, with some 539 megawatts worth of installed solar capacity. In 2021, solar photovoltaics accounted for over 4.5 percent of the electricity generation in Portugal.
