Monthly production of bioenergy in Portugal 2022, by type
Biomass is the main source of bioenergy generation in Portugal, accounting for more than 80 percent of the total output in the country. Throughout 2022, Portugal's generation of bioenergy was the highest in March, when a total of 340 gigawatt-hours were produced. Out of this figure, 292 gigawatt-hours came from biomass, whereas the renewable fraction of urban solid waste and biogas accounted for the remaining 27 and 21 gigawatt-hours, respectively.
