National expenditure on socio-cultural activities in Israel 2014-2021
Spending on socio-cultural activities in national expenditure on culture, entertainment and sports in Israel reached 8.5 billion Israeli shekels (around 2.4 billion U.S. dollars) in 2021. Between 2014 and 2021, the national expenditure for this activity increased slightly. The abrupt drop in spending in 2020 could be explained by the outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic, which led Israel to impose restrictions on cultural institutions and sports events. A total of approximately 64 billion Israeli shekels (around 18 billion U.S. dollars) was spent during the period under review for this activity.
