SOI investment activity in green and brown energy worldwide FY 2018-H1 2023

Between 2018 and 2020, state owned investors (SOIs) invested more in brown energy compared to green energy. However, the level of green investments of SOIs surpassed the level of brown investments since 2021. As of the first half of 2023, SOIs invested approximately 16.2 billion U.S. dollars in green energy, while the value of investments in brown energy amounted to 2.6 billion U.S. dollars.
