EU ETS freely allocated aviation allowances 2022, by country

Ireland had the highest European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) freely allocated allowances for aviation amongst all EU member states in 2022, at roughly four million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e). Germany followed, with free aviation allowances amounting to some 3.3 MtCO₂e. That year, free aviation allowances allocated under the EU ETS totaled 23.5 MtCO₂e.
