Metal & mining GHG emissions by company 2022

In 2022, Rio Tinto's total greenhouse gas emissions were 614 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MtCO₂e). Indirect Scope 3 emissions across the value chain accounted for some 95 percent of Rio Tinto's GHG emissions in 2022. Scope 3 categories, such as the use of sold products, typically account for more than 90 percent of a metal and mining company's total emissions.
