Average monthly earning growth in France 2015-2023
In the first quarter of 2023, wages in France grew by approximately 4.6 percent, although when adjusted for inflation, wages in real terms actually fell by 1.1 percent. When bonus pay is included in wage growth calculations, the last noticeable wage growth in real terms, was during the second quarter of 2022, when wages grew by 7.9 percent in nominal terms and by 1.9 percent in real terms. Moreover, during the 2020 second quarter, there is a clear fall in wage growth, which could be explained by the COVID-19 pandemic economic shock.
