*Respondents were residents of one of the following metropolitan areas:

Capital area, including parts of Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture, and Ibaraki Prefecture; within a 90-minute train ride to the central area.

Kansai area: Osaka, and parts of Hyogo Prefecture, Kyoto Prefecture, Nara Prefecture, and Shiga Prefecture; within an 80-minute train ride to the central area.

Tokai area: parts of Aichi Prefecture, Gifu Prefecture, and Mie Prefecture; within a 60-minute train ride to the central area.

The market size is comprised of the estimated total number of meals multiplied by the average expenses per meal.
