Worldwide: Low-entry vehicle share in light rail fleets by region 2021
All operational light rail transit (LRT) vehicles in Africa are low-entry, due to being the more recently constructed systems. This is in stark contrast with Eurasia, where only about 15 percent of their LRT vehicles are low-entry. Europe and Latin America hold a comparable middle position with, respectively, 58 and 60 percent.
As of 2021, over 400 cities worldwide have developed functioning (LRT) systems. This represents an upswing in the number of worldwide LRT systems in use after a long period of decline during the second half of the 20th century.
