Total military personnel of the U.S. Navy, by rank from the FY 2018-FY 2020 In the fiscal year of 2020, the United States Navy had a total end strength of 340,500 personnel. In the same year, there were nine Admirals and 20 Vice Admirals serving in the U.S. Navy.
Always courageous

The United States Navy can trace its history back to the Continental Navy, which was established in 1775 during the American Revolutionary War. The U.S. Navy is the naval warfare branch of the U.S. military and is the largest navy in the world. In addition to a significant number of warships, the United States Navy also has a number of aircraft which help to support naval operations while at sea, as well as helping with search and rescue operations and anti-submarine warfare.

Anchors aweigh

Active duty naval personnel have been on the decline in the U.S. since 1995, though the number of personnel has remained relatively steady since 2008. Among this number of Navy officers in the U.S., there are about five times more male officers than female.
