Number of civil partnerships in England and Wales (UK) from 2005 to 2016

England and Wales: Number of civil partnerships 2005-2016 This statistic shows the number of civil partnerships in the United Kingdom from 2005 to 2016. The figure for 2005 is comparatively low due to the fact that the first civil partnership wasn't able to take place until 5 December of that year. After that, in 2006, the numbers increased dramatically until 2013. In 2014 same sex marriage became legal in the UK and the number of civil partnerships began to decrease, falling to 890 in 2016.
