According to the source, the data is based on information on 266 cities. Chinese cities are categorized in four city tiers, based on their political importance and economic development. Tier 1 cities display a 2010 nominal urban GDP of above 932 billion yuan, Tier 2 cities a GDP between 120 to 932 billion yuan, Tier 3 cities a GDP between 22 to 120 billion yuan and Tier 4 cities a GDP below 22 billion yuan.

Figures may not resolve to 100 percent due to rounding.
