Average daily ridership of public transport in Delhi, India FY 2008-2021
In financial year 2021, more than two million passengers rode buses in Delhi daily, while around 0.9 million passengers rode metro daily the same year. They were a huge decrease in comparison with the previous year due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic. Delhi was one of the most congested cities in the world. Several new metro routes were under construction, and the government was planning to invest more in the public transport section, which would increase passenger traffic and improve the traffic congestion.
