This statistic shows a distribution of respondents to a survey question designed to find out how the Scottish would vote in the upcoming referendum on independence from the United Kingdom if people would, as a result, be 500 British pounds a year worse off. There is a great deal of campaigning taking place on both sides of the independence argument. The Scottish National Party want a completely autonomous Scotland whilst the Conservative led United Kingdom government is fighting for the centuries old union to remain. Standard of living and the economy are important points being discussed by both groups with claims being made which often contradict those of the opposition. When assuming they would be worse off, the majority (70 percent) would be against independence. Those strongly in favour were half as many as when given the scenario of
