Cancer of the thyroid occurs when cells within the thyroid begin to grow abnormally. In 2020, 3 males and 8 females per 100,000 population were registered as newly diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Compared to the previous years a slight rise in the newly diagnosed thyroid cancer rates is seen for females.
