This statistic shows the number of licensed heavy goods vehicles in Great Britain, from 2006 to 2018, by weight in tonnes, in thousand vehicles. While there were 160 thousand HGVs with a weight of over 7 to 8 tonnes in 2006, the majority among all the weight classes, the number had dropped by almost 40 thousand by 2013. The number of the heaviest vehicles, weighing over 41 tonnes, on the other hand, increased by nearly 20 thousand over this period. The average weight, all classes included, rose slightly between 2006 and 2018.
