This includes all banknotes of denominations five, ten, twenty and fifty British pounds. It can be seen that the number of British banknotes in circulation increased overall during the period under observation. The amount of British banknotes rose from almost 1.9 billion notes in 2004 to approximately 3.9 billion notes as of 2020, an increase of 2 billion notes.
