Austria: number of new passenger car registrations from 2012 to 2021
In 2021, close to 240,000 new passenger cars were registered in Austria. This continues the trend towards declining new passenger car registrations, which began in 2017. Since 2017 new registrations have dropped by nearly a third. The most dramatic year-on-year drop in this period occurred with the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, when registrations declined by nearly 25% compared to the previous year.
