NOx emissions by alternative power production in the United Kingdom (UK) 1990-2017

This statistic shows the amount of nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions through the production of electricity from sources other than oil, coal, nuclear or gas in the United Kingdom (UK) from 1990 to 2017. It shows that emissions have increased, which is consistent with the rise in popularity of alternative energy. In 2000, 9,000 metric tons of sulphur dioxide (SO2) equivalent were emitted, rising to 20,700 metric tons of sulphur dioxide equivalent in 2017.

Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) is a highly reactive gas, that along with Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and Ammonia (NH3) is measured as a precursor to acid rain.

This includes all electricity production methods other than gas, coal, oil and nuclear.

Sector classification is based on the NACE code, which is the industry standard classification system for economic activities in the European Community.
