List of most popular commercial airlners by cruising speed
This statistic shows the most common families of commercial airliners (according to Ascend Worldwide data published in the Guardian) ranked by cruising speed. The cruising speed of an aircraft is usually the speed at which it is most economic to fly, slightly faster than the speed which allows for its maximum range, but also slower than the aircraft's top speed. Of these aircraft, only the Boeing 777 family had an average cruising speed in excess of 500 knots, with its speed of 518 knots translating to roughly 960 kilometers per hour.
