Mexico Peace Index: most peaceful states 2022

The Mexico Peace Index ranks states on a scale from 1 to 5, with 1 being the most peaceful. The index comprises crime, violence, and policing indicators. In 2022, Yucatán received the best score in Mexico with 1.25 points. According to this index, Tlaxcala and Chiapas were also deemed some the most peaceful Mexican states that year.

The indicators included in the Mexico Peace Index are homicide rates, violent crime rate, organized crime rate, justice system efficiency, weapons crime rate, police funding per capita, crime reporting and detention.
The index allocates a score from 1 to 5 based on the performance of states in the above factors. A score closer to 1 indicates the state is more peaceful than states with scores closer to 5.
Figures have been rounded. The index scores shown in the graph may differ to the original three-decimal scores.
