In 2023, around 47.1 percent of the total Italian population over 15 years of age took medicine in the two days before this survey. This statistic breaks down this figure by gender and occupational status of pharmaceutical drug users. For both genders, the occupational status recording the highest share of medicine use was retired. In fact, over 80 percent of both male and female retired individuals took medicine in the previous two days.
