Netherlands: international hotel guests by continent 2021

The number of international hotel guests to the Netherlands declined in 2021 compared to the previous year. The Dutch hotel industry was already significantly challenged in 2020, when it reported a drop of roughly two million hotel guests as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Overall, European visitors constituted the largest share of hotel guests in the Netherlands in 2021.

The term guests includes:
- Visitors who stay for one or more nights in an overnight accommodation.
- Visitors who stay for multiple times per month in the same or different accommodations.

It is not:
- Visitors who stay for more than two months at a time in an overnight accommodation.
- Asylum seekers and seasonal employees are not taken into account.
