Number of passengers utilizing Amsterdam Airport Schiphol 2018-2019 As of the first quarter of 2019, approximately 15.5 million passengers utilized Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. This is an increase compared to the same quarter in the previous year, when the passenger volume amounted to just over 15.2 million. The highest volume was registered in the third quarter of 2018 (summer period), with nearly 20 million passengers using Schiphol to fly to and from their destination. Furthermore, the majority of the passengers flew with KLM, easyJet and Transavia at Amsterdam Airport in 2018. KLM transported roughly 34 million passengers, whereas over 11.2 million passengers flew with easyJet and Transavia via Schiphol airport.

Aircraft movements at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol

Considering the number of aircraft movements at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the volume grew steadily from 2010 onwards. As of 2018, the total aircraft movements amounted to nearly 500,000. However, according to a stakeholder agreement from 2008, Schiphol is not allowed to further expand and are limited to 500,000 aircraft movements per year until 2020. Afterwards, Schiphol can expand if they reduce the noise pollution. A way to realize further growth is to shift a part of Schiphol’s operations and capacity towards Lelystad Airport (owned by the Schiphol Group). According to a survey regarding the expansion to Lelystad Airport by 2020, nearly half of the respondents agreed with the plans, whereas 35 percent of the individuals were against such an expansion.

How do passenger travel to and from Amsterdam Airport

As of 2018, most of the passengers used public transport to travel to and from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (ID 688080). More than 46 percent of the respondents indicated that they went by public transport, whereas nearly 20 percent got dropped off by car. Parking at the airport got less and less popular, as it decreased annually from 13.6 percent in 2013 to 10.3 percent in 2018.
