Democracy Index by region 2010-2018 This statistic shows the extent to which each world region was democratic from 2010 to 2018, according to regional averages of scores from the Economist Intelligence Unit's Democracy Index. Countries are given a score from 0 to 10 with scores closer to 10 meaning the country is more democratic. In 2017, the most democratic region was North America with an average score of 8.56.
