In 2019, most same-day domestic visits in Italy were made for pleasure or leisure purposes. These travels accounted for 63 percent of all same-day visits in Italy. Moreover, cultural trips consisted of seven percent of all same-day domestic travels in 2019.

Leisure, recreation, spare time also includes attending training and educational courses not related to one's job (painting, cooking, dancing, fashion, language courses, etcetera).
Culture includes: visits to the artistic, monumental and archaeological heritage, visits to the natural heritage and the cultural landscape, visits to taste the food and wine specialties of the place or to attend folkloric events, shows, exhibitions, concerts, etcetera.
Other reason includes: health care, spa treatments based or not based on a medical prescription, accompanying relatives/friends.
