3M's background

Founded in 1902, 3M is an American multinational corporation that first started out as a corundum mining company. It now focuses on health care, industrial goods, safety equipment and consumer goods. One of their most famous products is the Scotch tape, which is one of the leading adhesive brands in the United States. Headquartered in Maplewood, Minnesota, they also manufacture adhesives, abrasives, laminates, electronic materials, and medical products. Another one of their most famous products is the Post-it Note. It is the second largest conglomerate company in the world, with operations in over 70 countries worldwide.

The net income of 3M has been favorably increasing since 2010, except for a slight decrease in 2019 and 2023. 3M's industrial segment was their highest sales generating segment in 2022. Their country of headquarters, the United States, is their most profitable region as well. As one of the largest companies in the United States, they employed approximately 85,000 people worldwide as of 2022.
