The company consists of six segments, or seven when the segment 'other' is taken into account. Today, BASF's Surface Technologies is the largest segment, yielding about 13.14 billion euros of revenue in 2019. The other BASF segments include Agricultural Solutions, Chemicals, Industrial Solutions, Materials, and Nutrition & Care.
From a regional point of view, BASF generated 43 percent of its revenue in home region of Europe in 2019. North America is the second largest market, responsible for some 28 percent of the company’s total revenue. BASF predicts that by 2020, the so called emerging markets will be responsible for almost half of its total revenue.
