Heat consumed from solid biomass in the European Union (EU-28) 2012-2018

The amount of heat consumed from solid biomass in the 28 European Union members presented a trend of growth over the years, peaking at 79.82 million metric tons of oil equivalent in 2017. Between 2012 and 2017, figures increased by roughly 6.4 million metric tons of oil equivalent. In 2018, heat consumed from biomass declined, amounting to 78.82 million metric tons of oil equivalent. In that same year, Germany had the highest consumption among all European members, consuming a total of 9.44 million metric tons of oil equivalent from solid biomass.
