This timeline highlights the total number of standard futures contracts on the Italian Derivatives Market (IDEM) from 2007 to 2017. Over the period of consideration, sizeable fluctuations in the number of stipulated contracts must be noticed. Commencing from 2012, the number of futures contracts grew considerably year-over-year, reaching its maximum of approximately 10.6 million contracts as of 2016. By the end of 2017, the number of contracts added up to about 7.2 million units.
