In the year ending June 2023, the number of international visitors who came to Australia to visit friends and family was the highest, at around 2.2 million people. This was followed by people visiting Australia for holidays, at just under 1.9 million people. Employment was not a popular reason for visiting Australia in 2023, with the number of visitors for employment purposes at around 200 thousand.
