Chinese tourist arrivals in selected European countries 2016-2022
The number of tourist arrivals from China in all forms of paid accommodation establishments in Germany was significantly lower between 2020 and 2022 compared to the years prior to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In 2022, arrivals from China in the European country totaled roughly 179 thousand, rising from 2021 but showing an 88 percent drop from 2019. Meanwhile, Austria reported the sharpest annual increase in Chinese tourist arrivals among the selected countries in 2022.
