Marriage rate in England and Wales 1990-2017

In 2017 the marriage rate for opposite sex couples in England and Wales was eight per one thousand people. Although there was a slight uptick in the marriage rate between 2001 and 2006, there has been a general trend of declining marriage rates throughout this period, peaking at 13.1 in 1990 and reaching the low seen in the most recent year.
