Imported passenger car brands South Korea 2019, based on registration

Mercedes-Benz was the most popular brand for foreign passenger cars in South Korea in 2019 and accounted for almost a third of all imported passenger cars registered. BMW followed in second place, making up another 18 percent of imported cars registered in 2019. BMW sales slumped compared to the year before, while Japanese brands such as Lexus and Toyota lost market share as a result of the ongoing public boycott against Japanese products amid the Korea-Japan trade disputes. Meanwhile, several minor brands took the opportunity to expand their market shares, such as Volvo, Jeep, and Mini.
