This statistic displays the result of a survey asking British individuals to what extent they agreed with the following statements regarding the use of patient data and personally identifiable data by the NHS as of 2018. While 78 percent of respondents trust their GP to best use their patient data, only 30 percent of individuals knew who has access to their data stored by the NHS.

* The wording of the original question was as follows: "To what extent do you agree or disagree with each of the following statements about your patient data and your personally identifiable data? By patient data, we are referring to information including your age, medical history, any medication you're taking and any diagnoses made regarding your health. By personally identifiable data, we are referring to information personal to you including your name, address or telephone number."
Figures shown are the combination of 'Strongly agree' and 'Tend to agree' responses.
