This graph shows the number of completed new dwellings in West Germany from 2000 to 2020. In 2020, 94,000 new dwellings were completed in the region, an increase compared to 90,000 the year before. The number of finished residential building projects declined until 2009 and then began to increase again until 2015, fluctuating afterwards. In terms of residential dwelling types, more than half of Germany's population lives in apartments, and roughly a quarter in detached houses.
