Luxottica is actually the largest eyewear company in the world, responsible for such brands as Ray-Ban, Persol, Oakley, Burberry, Polo Ralph Lauren, Versace and many others. In 2015, the Luxottica Group had global sales that amounted to approximately 8.84 billion U.S. dollars.
The eyewear market will continue to grow as manufacturers continue to adhere to the constant demands and trends of the consumer. In January 2017, Italy's Luxottica and France's Essilor agreed a 46 billion euro merger to create a global eyewear powerhouse.
