Poland is one of the emerging stars of European fashion with both textile and finished clothing exports experiencing a big increase over the last decade or so. It is also a country with a strong retail landscape with as many as 500 shopping centers, 50% of which are occupied by fashion brands. Therefore it is no surprise that revenues generated from the retail sale of clothing in specialized stores are expected to increase from 6.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2017 to over 8 billion in 2023. Wroclaw has the largest retail space per capita in the country, followed by Poznan, Tricity, Warsaw and Lodz.

Poland slowly catching up with major fashion cities

London, Paris, New York and Milan have been the traditional centers of world fashion. However, the Polish capital of Warsaw is slowly but surely emerging from the shadows, having already made the transition from fashion underdog to industry hotspot. One of the main factors contributing to this is the fact that the country’s factories consistently manufacture for top global fashion houses such as Louis Vuitton and Hugo Boss. Relatively cheap labor and favorable government policies, especially in terms of foreign investment, make the country an attractive destination for global brands.
