Brazil: opinion on foreign interest in the Amazon 2019
In a survey carried out in August 2019, around three quarters of Brazilian respondents agreed that other countries' interest in the Amazon is legitimate. When asked about foreign governments' involvement in the Amazon situation, 75 percent of respondents said other countries' interest in the Amazon is legitimate because the rainforest is important for the entire planet and is currently under threat. On the other hand, 61 percent of respondents strongly or somewhat agreed with the following statement: 'Other countries' interest in the Amazon is only an excuse to be able to exploit its natural resources'.
